how important is picking the right team?
One of the best parts about moving away is coming home. Heidi and I spent a few precious hours tonight with some friends we respect and love deeply.
Now that we live hundreds of miles apart we no longer find ourselves investing time with the little small talk that so often accompanies friends in their time together. Instead, because our lives intersect only once every few months, we dive headfirst into what’s important: marriage, church, God, parenting, work, but most of all cheering each other to live out life in a fearless fashion.
The next time you hang with a close friend – pretend you haven’t seen them for six months and you won’t again for another six. Forget the weather, the news, or the ballgame. Talk about what’s important – why it’s important.
Life is a team sport so choose your friends wisely, and if your picks pan out, play hard with them at life. After all, you never know when life will pick you up and drop you in a playground 600 miles away where you’ll get start picking all over again.
Go Team Go!
